Who is it For?
Cataract removal is usually recommended for those who are experiencing serious effects to their vision due to cataracts, such as an inability to perform daily activities like reading, driving, or looking at a computer and or tv screen. Cataract removal may also be recommended if a patient is unable to treat another existing eye condition due to the effects of cataracts.
Patients who experience an inability to read, watch tv, or drive safely because of effects on their vision caused by cataracts.
Patients who cannot treat another existing eye condition due to the effects of cataracts.

Where is the surgery center?
The surgery center is connected to our clinic at 810 Merriman Conway, AR.
Will I have a post op patch?
There is no patch after surgery. The only post op restriction is no swimming with your head under water for 1 month.
Are there extra drops after cataract surgery?
Yes, there are two drops, a steroid and an antibiotic, that will be used four times a day for a month.
Will I be awake during the procedure?
The nurse anesthetist will give some IV sedation for anxiety.
When will I have a new glasses prescription?
The average time for a new prescription is about 2 weeks post op.
Can I follow up with my optometrist after surgery?
You will need to be seen by Dr Baker for your day 1 post op visit, but afterwards most patients are able to follow up with their optometrist.
Is cataract surgery covered under medical insurance or vision insurance?
Cataract surgery, when it qualifies, is covered under medical insurance.
Will I be out of glasses after cataract surgery?
Cataract surgery is not refractory surgery, but it does make you less dependent on glasses.
Will I be able to drive after cataract surgery?
Because of the sedation given during the procedure, you won’t be able to drive until the following day.
When will I be able to take a shower and wash my hair after cataract surgery?
Immediately after cataract surgery.
